Sleeping Beauty Gets Released

The surgeon's optimism about Tir's recovery was proven to be warranted when Tir was released from the hospital exactly a week after he'd been admitted. Amidst a crowd of nurses who had gathered to say goodbye to their favorite patient, Peter happily wheeled his lover out to a waiting car that Moragainne had sent to pick them up and take them to her home. The generous offer to have Tir and Peter stay with her would have been impossible to refuse. Peter knew that Tir would feel more relaxed in the warmth of a real home rather than the hotel, and he would have more space for his temporary office. It was an ideal situation. Peter had made his phone calls, and while he'd been disappointed that Inez said she wouldn't be joining them, he did understand that while he thought of her as a mother, the truth was she was Will's mom and her taking a trip to Ireland to be with Peter would upset him. Things were already on shaky ground with Will and Peter didn't want to run the risk of losing him. He was dreading telling him about the engagement, but he knew that it would need to be done.

Once they were settled in the car, Peter put his arm around Tir so his lover could rest against him. "How're you feeling, baby? We can still have an ambulance take you if you don't think you'll be comfortable."

"You keep up by doing exactly what you're doing," Peter said, relaxing back on the sofa. "That's an order," he added with a wink.

"Yes, sir." Tir answered cheekily, returning Peter's wink and adding a roguish, teasing grin. "Is there aught else y'd have m' do?"

"I don't think I should go into that in front of our beautiful hostess," Peter said, actually blushing a little as he thought about all the things he'd love Tir to do.

"Keep the conversation polite, Tir lad." Mora chuckled. "Or I'll loan Peter my personal playroom once your healed and let him correct your behavior."

"Yes, ma'am." Tir grinned. "Although a threat like that sounds more like a promise."

"Oh, great, now I'll never get him to behave," Peter said, trying to look serious but only managing to giggle and give Tir a kiss.

"Y'd be surprise what y' can get me t' do, Peter." Tir said with a slight giggle of his own as leaned forward for another kiss.

"You know, that's exactly what I like to hear," Peter said, his eyes full of love as he looked at Tir. The truth was he'd do absolutely anything for this man, and he wasn't exactly sure when Tir had completely taken over his heart this way.

Mora smiled at the two men, remembering what it felt like to be young and that in love as she sipped her tea. "Now, Peter, as much as Tir will want you close to hand while he's recuperating, I have no intention of allowing you to hide away here. Andrew is quite capable of caring for him when you take some time away and is still a member of the nursing registry in good standing. In fact he was one of my late husband's personal care nurses in the last two years of his life, which is how we became acquainted, so I would like to request that occasionally you accompany me to social engagements. I don't have many during the term, as I prefer to keep my schedule light whilst teaching, but there are three coming up in the next month that I believe would benefit you in terms of business contacts. That is if you would like to expand your company's client register to include a few on this side of the pond."

Peter was surprised enough that Mora would want him to escort her to any social event, let alone allow him to set up some possible business contacts. His company might have been small, but he was always looking for a way to make a real name for himself.

"That would be an incredible opportunity," he said his eyes lighting up, "and considering I'm going to be spending so much more time here, having local clients would be a huge boon for me. Plus," he grinned, "how could I possibly pass up the opportunity to spend more time with you?"

"Well, now it may be your first trip to the Auld Sod, but there's no doubt you flatter as well as any Irishman." Mora laughed lightly. "As for opportunity, I know quite a few contacts who could do you a great deal of good, not the least of which is Aeofin More, the Comptroller General of the college, who makes all the disbursement decisions including where the advertisement budget is spent."

"This just keeps gettnig better and better," Peter said, giving Tir an excited look. "You wouldn't mind that I'll be working while we're here, do you, baby?"

"Well one of us has to keep us in tatties and scones, aye?" Tir chuckled. "I think it brilliant, luv. Y'll knock on their arses."

"With you at my side, I can't do anything less," Peter said, giving Tir a kiss. "Thank you, Moragainne. I'll make sure to do my best so I don't embarrass you."

"I've no fear of that, a'chara. You're intelligent, handsome, personable and ambitious, not to mention near as much a charmer as our Tirnian here. You'll do quit well in the circles I'll introduce you and with luck I'll have a bonus in having you and our lad come to this side of the pond often I hope." With a smile, she drained the last of her tea and placed the cup and saucer on the tray neatly. "Now, I'm off to spend a bit of tea time with Micheal and Andrew. I'm sure you lads can amuse yourself until dinner is served. Don't hesitate to call down for trays if you'd rather spend the evening in quiet." Standing Mora, dropped a kiss to first Peter's cheek, then Tir's. "It right glad I am to have you both here and you must stay as long as you would like."

"Thank you, again, so much," Peter said, rising to his feet to escort Mora to the door. "You'll have to come stay with us if you're ever in the U.S. I can't offer you anything as beautiful as this, but you're welcome any time."

"Oh you've no need to fear that, a'chara." Mora turned at the door and smiled. "Like Tir, I grew up in a coldwater flat at the bottom end of High Street. Not quite the Skils, but close enough. Enjoy your evening, my dears and if I do not see you at dinner, I'll look forward to your company tomorrow afternoon." With that, Mora slipped out the door and left them alone.

Peter went to sit back down with Tir, putting his arms around his lover and holding him against him with a contented sigh. "She's an absolute jewel, and I never would have met her if not for you." He kissed Tir's hair and smiled. "What can't you do, sweetheart?"

"She's a rare one right enough, under the Celts she would have been ban-righ for certain sure." Tir grinned. "And it's not me, luv, it's that Murtaugh charm."

"Well, you've got that Murtaugh charm in spades, my love," Peter said, this time kissing Tir on the lips.

Tir threaded his fingers through Peter's hair. "How'd I get s' lucky as t' catch yer eye, Yank?"

Peter chuckled softly. "You were just absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to fuck you the second I saw you."

"Didn't take much longer than that till y' were as I recall, mate." Tir laughed, trying to pull Peter closer, but finding himself too weak still to much more than tug at him. "Come 'ere, handsome, I'm in need o' some serious canoodlin' and I've taken a fancy t' y'."

Peter smiled, though he could tell that Tir was getting tired. "Why don't we go into the bedroom so we can canoodle while you get some rest, hmm?"

"Feels as all I've done is rest." Tir grinned. "All this laying about it's a wonder I'm not gettin' fat." Truth was he knew he'd dropped around a half stone, perhaps a bit more since the attack, but he hoped Peter hadn't noticed. The Yank didn't need another worry and Tir was sure he'd put it back on once he was up about on his own again.
