Sleeping Beauty Gets Released

The surgeon's optimism about Tir's recovery was proven to be warranted when Tir was released from the hospital exactly a week after he'd been admitted. Amidst a crowd of nurses who had gathered to say goodbye to their favorite patient, Peter happily wheeled his lover out to a waiting car that Moragainne had sent to pick them up and take them to her home. The generous offer to have Tir and Peter stay with her would have been impossible to refuse. Peter knew that Tir would feel more relaxed in the warmth of a real home rather than the hotel, and he would have more space for his temporary office. It was an ideal situation. Peter had made his phone calls, and while he'd been disappointed that Inez said she wouldn't be joining them, he did understand that while he thought of her as a mother, the truth was she was Will's mom and her taking a trip to Ireland to be with Peter would upset him. Things were already on shaky ground with Will and Peter didn't want to run the risk of losing him. He was dreading telling him about the engagement, but he knew that it would need to be done.

Once they were settled in the car, Peter put his arm around Tir so his lover could rest against him. "How're you feeling, baby? We can still have an ambulance take you if you don't think you'll be comfortable."

Peter shook his head. "Are you implying I'm not strong enough to put you over my shoulder and carry you around?" he teased.

"Well now, y' aren' young man there, mate. I wouldna want y' t' cause y'self hurt, aye." Tir's eyes twinkled with mirth as he teased Peter.

"You're so lucky you're not feeling a hundred percent," Peter said with a little growl.

Aye? And if I were?" Tir grinned cheekily.

"Let's just say you'd be very sore once I was through with you," Peter said with a wicked laugh as he led Tir over to the bed.

"From where y' spanked me bum or from where y' fooked me blind, mate?" Tir turned, wrapped his arms around Peter's waist and nuzzled his throat.

Peter closed his eyes and smiled. "Both," he said, almost purring at the way Tir teased him.

Just the thought of it sent a shiver of heat through Tir and he tightened his hold on Peter, trembling with desire. "God, luv, I want y' like hell burnin'."

Peter turned his head to capture Tir's mouth in a blazing kiss before gently guiding him to sit down on the bed. "When you're healed, I'm not going to let you out of my bed for a month," he whispered, smiling against his lover's lips.

"That's a promise I'll hold y' t', Yank." Tir grinned and let Peter help him sit and then stretch out on the bed. "But fer now, there was a promise made t' canoodle and I'm still a waitin'."

"Oh, right, the great canoodle of aught nine," Peter said, grinning right back as he took his time taking off Tir's shoes for him and toeing off his own. "How was that supposed to go again?"

"Ach and y' mean t' tell me they dona even teach y' Yanks how to canoodle? Well, I suppose I could make time in m' busy schedule fer a lesson." His grin was wicked and impish. "Just by way of bein' a good Christian act, y' ken?"

"Oh, yeah, completely," Peter nodded, crawling onto the bed and stretching out alongside Tir. "One of the reasons I love you is your giving nature."

"Aye." Tir laughed, brushing a hand over Peter's crotch. "Just think of all I can gie y'."

"Baby, I think about it all the time, trust me," Peter said with a wicked grin.

"Then come 'ere, Yank and let me gie y' somethin' more t' think on." Tir rolled carefully over on his side to face Peter and crooked a finger, motioning him to close the short distance between them.

Peter slowly moved closer and reached to hold the side of Tir's face. "Baby, I don't want you getting too worn out," he whispered. "You should be resting. " Even as he spoke, the closeness of his lover was making his own body react.

"You rest your way, mate, I'll rest mine." Tir smiled and kissed Peter softly.

"Can't argue with that," Peter murmured, moving his hand down to trail over Tir's shoulder. "I kind of feel scared you'll break," he admitted with a slightly sheepish smile.

"Well, if y' hear a creakin' sound y' might want to back up a bit, luv." Tir couldn't resist teasing, but then he cupped a hand t' Peter's cheek and turned serious. "I willna break, m' luv, not as long as I have y' near t' keep m' safe."

"That's all I ever want to do," Peter whispered, kissing Tir tenderly and with far more patience than he was really feeling. "You're the most precious thing in my life."

"D' y' know how much I love y', Peter?" Tir felt like melting into the tender kiss.

"I do, baby," Peter said, the image of the night Tir was stabbed flashing through his mind. "I'm always going to know just how much you love me when I see your scars." His voice cracked at the last words, and he moved even closer.

"Ach, no, luv." Tir brushed a hand over Peter's cheek. "No sad thoughts now. I'm a fit as can be expected and growin' stronger each day. I'll be back t' me old self in no time at all."

"I know you're getting stronger," Peter said, "but I can't stop thinking about what would have happened if I'd lost you. I try to get it out of my mind, but I just can't."
